Destinee Whetstone - Allegany College of Maryland

“Destinee is an active contributing member in our community. She has volunteered at Bedford County’s Children and Youth Services, Salvation Army of Cumberland, and more recently with CASA of Western Maryland - working toward her goal of becoming a social worker. Destinee will be joining our Civic and Community Engagement Committee next year, assisting students, staff, and community partners as we work to build healthy relationships and sustainable collaborations with the community, region, state, nation and world.”

My name is Destinee Whetstone. I am a Social Work/Behavioral Health major and potentially minoring in Sociology. I would love to be apart of this fellowship because I am very proactive when it comes to gaining leadership skills and learning more about ways to help grow communities across the map. I try to keep up to date on many of the problems I see the world facing and truly believe that change starts with us! I watch and read about so many people drastically impacted by the amount of social change happening, that is not their fault, nor do I want my children or any other younger generations to have to suffer. I feel our world could benefit from many changes to effectively help with sustainability, health, social problems and much more! Working with many other adults from all around would benefit and become aware of all what we can do around! To see the change is to be the change!
