-Mr. Kurt L. Schmoke
President, University of Baltimore
I have showcased the leadership skills that the fellowship is known for through my service on my school's Student Government Association (SGA), while engaging in professional development opportunities as well. I have had a 15+ year professional career in the legal and business fields. I am currently pursuing my third higher education degree in Global Affairs and Human Security.
As a University of Baltimore (UB) student, I serve as SGA Vice President of Academic Affairs, bringing additional services and support to UB students. In addition, I chair the Academic Affairs Committee, co-chair the Special Events Committee, and sit on the Academic Support Committee, and the SGA Constitutional Re-Write Committee. I also serve as the UB graduate representative to the University System Maryland Student Council. I am a part of the ODK and National Society of Leadership honor societies as well.
I have assisted in coordinating The American Association of Geographers: Race, Ethnicity, and Place Conference XI. And currently, I am coordinating a blood drive at UB in conjunction with the American Red Cross. All of my educational, professional, and personal experiences have contributed to the leadership skills I exemplify today. Serving as a Mid-Atlantic Civic Fellow will greatly further my leadership skillset.
