Transform Mid-Atlantic is a non-profit membership association of public, private, 2- and 4-year colleges and universities, including many HBCUs and minority serving institutions. Transform Mid-Atlantic provides leadership to colleges and universities in Maryland, Washington, D.C., and Delaware by advocating, supporting, and encouraging institutional participation in academic and co-curricular based public service and civic engagement programs.
Transform Mid-Atlantic strengthens the capacity of member institutions to enhance student learning and to meaningfully engage with communities. Transform Mid-Atlantic is supported through a combination of institutional dues, federal and private grants, donations, and in-kind contributions. The Transform Mid-Atlantic office is located at Hood College in Frederick, Maryland.

Through leveraging our talents as a network, we build the institutional capacity of our member campuses and their partners to achieve their civic missions. Additionally, we build campus-community partnerships to improve community life. We achieve this through utilizing the following local, regional, and national strategies:
Awards & Recognition
A range of regional awards recognizing the great work people and programs are doing across our region. We have a wide variety of awards — some for faculty, student groups, campus-community partnerships, community leaders, staff, and engaged campuses.
Both large and small-scale grants, in the form of an AmeriCorps VISTA member, or a mini-grant to assist with faculty development or student service.
Both in-person and web-based professional development and networking events with civic and community engagement staff, community partners, faculty, presidents/chancellors, students, and other stakeholders.
Programs & Initiatives
Our current initiatives are P20 CONNECTS, Collective Impact, Global Citizenship, and JEDI (Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion).
As a presidential organization, we regularly convene senior leaders at our partner institutions and within our communities to provide guidance and direction for our collective priorities in the region.
A monthly newsletter as well as a collection of reports, articles, issue briefs, and other publications to share information, ideas, evaluation findings, and success stories from across the Mid-Atlantic region.
Established in 2008 as the Maryland Campus Compact (MDCC), the MDCC expanded in 2011 to include the District of Columbia, becoming the Maryland-DC Campus Compact (MDCCC). In 2017 MDCCC expanded to include Delaware, becoming Campus Compact Mid-Atlantic (CCMA). In 2022, Campus Compact Mid-Atlantic disaffiliated with the national Campus Compact organization, becoming Transform Mid-Atlantic.
Transform Mid-Atlantic is a region-wide higher education association comprised of two- and four-year public and private colleges and universities. Member institutions are committed to bringing the resources of the academy to bear on community issues, both locally and globally, through sustainable partnerships with their communities.
Transform Mid-Atlantic mobilizes the collective commitment and capacity of higher education and community partners in the region to develop global citizens and co-create just, equitable, and sustainable institutions and communities.
Transform Mid-Atlantic envisions the development of a healthy, sustainable, and socially just society collectively created by engaged global citizens, institutions, and communities.
Our Core Values
The core values below guide Transform Mid-Atlantic network in our service, advocacy, and partnerships with the larger community:
JUSTICE, EQUITY, DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION: We promote and support the values of equity, diversity, and inclusion by creating space for those historically underrepresented in our local and global communities to become participants in and advocates for socially just, holistic communities.
GROWTH MINDSET: We cultivate the potential of individuals, including those individuals that drive institutions and communities, to obtain the requisite attitudes, understandings, and skills to achieve their goals and assist and support others’ goals over time.
COLLECTIVE IMPACT: We engage in long-term commitments with an inclusive group of engaged change agents from a variety of sectors to advance equity through a common agenda for the development of skills, attitudes, and understandings for college, career, and civic readiness.

SUSTAINABILITY: We endeavor to more fully comprehend the ways that our work and partnerships are connected to larger efforts throughout the world, as well as our organization’s impact on the social, economic, and environmental wellbeing of individuals and communities at present and in the future. We seek to create a network that is greater than the sum of its parts and endowed with a global consciousness so that Transform Mid-Atlantic may nurture sustainable community-led development and advance the stewardship of our environment, institutions, and communities for years to come.
POSITIVE SOCIAL CHANGE: We acknowledge social change must start with the individual, and we emphasize the impact that begins with personal engagement and ultimately influences change at a broader group, institutional, and community level. We use the term social change to encompass a spectrum of systemic social and civic outcomes beginning with increased awareness and understanding, and cascading to attitudinal change, increased civic participation, the building of public will, and policy change that creates equity.
