2026-2027 TMA Civic Education Sessions: Leading with Love

October 13 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

About the 2026-2027 TMA Civic Education Sessions Program

The purpose of  Transform Mid-Atlantic’s (TMA) (opens in new tab) Civic Education Sessions is to connect first generation and limited-income students (and any other student who wants to participate!) affiliated with colleges and universities throughout the Mid-Atlantic region to engage in dialogue and co-learning about a variety of topics related to the public purposes of higher education.

Registration is free for students from TMA member campuses. Students from non-member campuses can register for each individual session for $10 per person or their campus can pay $250 to provide access to all six sessions for up to 25 students.

About the Session: Leading with Love

Civic engagement is more than just voting, being informed, and using your voice to rally folks and protest; it’s about putting love back into the community, advocating for issues that are near and dear to your heart, understanding perspectives and various lived experiences, and connecting with folks with the insight that a little love goes a long way. In this session, we’ll explore how community issues are at the heart of civic issues; to better our systems are to also better our communities, and to do so, we must learn to lead with love.

Guest Speaker: Ms. Sulakshmi Vaid (opens in new tab) is the Coordinator for Civic & Community Service at Goldey-Beacom College.
