  • WHAT IS AN IMPORTANT QUALITY OF AN EFFECTIVE LEADER?

"When I think about leadership, I think about being authentic, consistent, and accountable not only for myself, but also for the people around me. To me, leadership is not about having all the answers; it is about listening, adapting, and still finding ways to move forward with purpose. I have had the opportunity to develop this understanding through my involvement on campus, particularly with the NAACP and the Black History Month Committee. In these roles, I met challenges such as low turnout, differing perspectives, and moments of feeling overwhelmed. However, these experiences taught me how to remain grounded, communicate effectively, and continue pushing initiatives forward...True leadership means showing up even in uncomfortable moments and still working to make a meaningful impact."

  • WHAT'S A COMMUNITY-BASED ISSUE THAT YOU CARE ABOUT?

"While many students care deeply about social and civic issues, sustained engagement is often difficult to support. Interest exists, but consistent structure and support are not always present. Through my involvement, I have worked to create spaces where students can engage in meaningful dialogue, feel seen, and be encouraged to act. However, I recognize that individual events alone are not enough. Moving forward, I want to focus on building sustainable initiatives programs, partnerships, and systems that continue beyond my immediate involvement. To me, sustainability means creating a foundation that allows future student leaders, particularly within Black student communities and advocacy spaces, to build without starting from nothing."

  • TELL US ABOUT SOMETHING OR SOMEONE THAT INSPIRES YOU?

"A quote that continues to ground me is, 'If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.' This reflects how I understand leadership and success. Coming from a Ghanaian background, I deeply value community and collective progress. I recognize that meaningful change is not achieved individually, but through collaboration, shared responsibility, and a commitment to uplifting others. This mindset reminds me that my journey is not solely about personal achievement, but also about the people I bring with me and the legacy I help build."
