The 2026 TMA Awards Program will be held on Friday, November 20, 2026, at Johns Hopkins University (JHU). Nominations are currently open.

This year's theme: Rooted Here and Reaching Far - A celebration of the changemakers, campuses, and community partners nurturing civic and community engagement across the Mid-Atlantic region

Place matters. Campus-community partnerships and transformation happen at the local level. Join us in recognizing the changemakers across our region who are cultivating this work!

Nomination Call to Action: Know a campus leader, faculty member, student, and/or partnership whose “roots” and impact run deep? Nominate them for a 2026 TMA Award by August 31, 2026!

About this Theme: From the Eastern Shore to the Shenandoah Valley, from the banks of the Chesapeake to the streets of our capital — work to advance the public purposes of higher education across our region is deeply connected to place-based leadership, pedagogy and scholarship, and partnerships that center reciprocity, local knowledge, and intentionality. This November, we will honor the people who have put down roots in their communities and at their institutions, and who – through their leadership, research, teaching, and collaboration – are reaching toward more just, equitable, and sustainable campuses and communities. All rooted here.

“We believe place matters, and that the strongest partnerships are built at the grassroots level, community by community, campus by campus, rooted in place, driven by community, and endowed with the collective power to create lasting, sustainable change for our region and democracy.”
