The Transform Mid-Atlantic Stories of Service Podcast seeks to tell the story of amazing community-centered projects that TMA supports, and the people behind them.

Episode I: Salma Rashid

In their first episode, Transform Mid-Atlantic Collective Impact AmeriCorps VISTA member Kate McGeehan and Associate Director Anthony Wagner speak with Salma Rashid. Salma served for two years as an AmeriCorps VISTA member at the Friendship Charter School in Washington, D.C. In this interview, Salma reflects on the people and experiences that inspired her to spend two years engaged in national service as a VISTA member and shares how her service has prepared her for her graduate school, a career, and a life of engaged citizenship.

Episode II: Jade Kenney

In this episode, Kate and Anthony interview Jade Kenney. Jade is currently serving in her second year as an AmeriCorps VISTA member at Allegany College of Maryland, where she has collaboratively developed ACM’s project titled “Tackling the Opioid Crisis: Building a Resilient Maryland.” The project has received support from the Center for Mind-Body Medicine. Jade shares how her own personal story, challenges, and resilience led to her service at ACM and how ACM’s partnership with the Center for Mind-Body Medicine is transforming the lives of individuals affected by the opioid crisis in Western Maryland.

Episode III: Mike Morgan

Kate interviews the one and only Mike Morgan. Mike served as an AmeriCorps VISTA member at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore the ShoreWay Experience project. The project is a collaboration with Somerset County Public Schools and seeks to develop college and career readiness among underrepresented K-12 students in higher education throughout Somerset County, Maryland. Mike shares the impact of the project on the community and his ongoing and inspiring personal commitment to service and lifelong learning.
