TMA GBC Community Engagement Project
The Goldey-Beacom College (GBC) Community Engagement Project is a transformative initiative empowering students and communities through dedicated service. During their service year, the VISTA member will build local capacity and address identified needs to foster sustainable change and lasting impact. In collaboration with the Student Affairs department, the members will organize community service events, engage students, and expand existing partnerships with local organizations. With a commitment to empowering students and addressing community needs, the VISTA member will play a pivotal role in fostering lasting change and civic responsibility in collaboration with local organizations.
TMA Community Design VISTA Project
The TMA Community Design VISTA Project, “Building, Sharing, and Expanding Power through Community Design”, addresses the need for long-term capacity building among the community partners that the Neighborhood Design Center (NDC) engages with through our Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) sponsored work in low-to-moderate income communities in Baltimore City. In this role, the VISTA member supports new relationships and increased access to design, planning, and funding resources for community partners in Baltimore City. Through an in-depth process of ecosystem mapping, and a series of engagement and informational events, the VISTA project strengthens connection with community and institutional partners while providing and digital and print educational resources to key stakeholders.
TMA Pathways to Success VISTA Project
The TMA Pathways to Success VISTA Project will support a statewide initiative to increase college access and financial literacy for low-income high school students in West Virginia. The VISTA member will design lesson plans and online resources, build partnerships with schools and community organizations, develop outreach strategies, and train Fairmont State students as peer mentors to provide low income and rural students with knowledge and tools to understand college affordability, financial aid, student loans, and career planning. With data and impact measurement, the VISTA member will create a sustainability plan and impact report to support the initiative’s long-term success.
