9/11 Day of Service Grant Applications Open Until June 26 for TMA Member Campuses!
Transform Mid-Atlantic is pleased to announce that it has received funding from 9/11 Day and AmeriCorps alongside its partner organizations in the national Alliance for Campus Community Engagement to provide grants of $1,250 or $2,500 to member colleges and universities in Maryland, DC, Delaware, West Virginia, and Northern Virginia to support campus volunteer projects/events during the 9/11 National Day of Service and Remembrance.
All funded projects/events must take place between September 1-25, 2026. Representatives from TMA member institutions may apply for this grant opportunity to support volunteer-generating activities aligned with the 9/11 National Day of Service and Remembrance. Any reasonable service project will be considered, with preference to projects that address hunger, homelessness, veterans, needs of first responders, environmental sustainability, education, health, revitalization, and other community priorities. Grantees are encouraged to get creative, and innovative, with their project ideas! Projects can address a myriad of issues and foci, including the following:
- Hunger Relief (meal pack, food drive, etc.)
- Care Package Assembly & Distribution
- Veteran or First Responder Appreciation
- Disaster Response
- Environmental Stewardship / Conservation
- Other project foci aligned with 9/11 Day / AmeriCorps poverty relief priorities
Applications are due by Friday, June 26, 2026. Grant recipients will be notified by mid-July.
Grantees and volunteers at their projects will be invited to participate in a virtual kick-off celebration with 9/11 Day and TMA's partner organizations across the United States through the Alliance for Campus Community Engagement. Grantees will receive more information about reporting, expectations for branding/communications, etc. after their application has been accepted.
Grantees must commit to providing TMA with a post-event report and follow all 9/11 Day branding / promotion / social media guidelines. Applicants must be prepared to submit a final report to TMA within seven (7) days of the conclusion of the project (details of the report will be provided to grantees).
